Speaker : Mathis Wackernagel, Global Footprint Network
Dr. Mathis Wackernagel, together with Prof. William Rees,
created the “Ecological Footprint,” a resource accounting tool
that measures the land and water area a human population
needs to provide the resources it consumes and absorb its
waste, using prevailing technology. Now he runs Global
Footprint Network, a research organisation that promotes the
use of Ecological Footprint accounting for advancing
sustainable development. This organization used the tool for
exploring the link between ecological performance and human
well-being in Africa. The presentation will discuss results from this
collaboration.
Tuesday, June 19 13h–14h, External Cooperation Info Point, Rue de la Loi 41, Ground floor. Limited seats.
